The product range of the counters Cxx distributed by Saia-Burgess Controls AG isn't avaiable anymore since end of 2011. The products can still be purchased, no longer from Saia-Burgess Controls AG but from the company Kübler. The repair service of the counters Cxx is also done by the company Kübler.

What are the maximum energy consumption values for Energy meters and Energy Managers/ E-controllers? (FAQ #101899)
Where is the counting limit for Energy meters and Energy Managers/ E-controllers?
What happens when they reach the limit?
The maximum energy consumption value for all counters is 9’999’999.
When a counter reaches this value, it will start counting with 0.
In the Energy Manager and in the E-Controller, the energy consumption value is handled in the firmware.
In runtime, the firmware detects only negative values.
A lower positive value is only detected during a reboot.
In this case, a counter change message appears.
Now you have two possibilities:
You can do a manually reset of the counter value to 0.
That means you have to reject the proposed action on the user interface of the device.
=> A new file is created with a higher index by the firmware.
The history bar charts are lost and the visualization starts to redraw from the current day.
2:Anyway the firmware counts internally with floating point values.
The second possibility is to accept the appeared proposal from firmware.
=> The history bar charts stays, but the values on the counter and on the user interface aren’t the same anymore.
Label and schema of PCD7.T162 are incorrect on housings produced before week 22 of 2011 (FAQ #101615)
The label of the supply voltage pins 1L/2L and 3N/4N are inverted. This wrong label is present on the schema of the housing and directly on the pins.
When a PCD7.T162 produced before week 22 of 2011 (30.05.2011) has a 24V DC supply voltage it does not work when it is connected like described in the schema on the housing.
The pins 1L/2L and 3N/4N are printed inversely. This means that the functionality is still the same but the 24V DC need to be connected to the pins 3N/4N and the 0V to 1L/2L.
Units of PCD7.T162 produced after 11/22 (30.05.2011) are correctly labelled and they can be connected to the supply voltage as described in the schema on the housing.
How to configure the S-Bus address on a ALE3? (FAQ #101476)
The S-Bus address of an ALE3 with Serial-S-Bus interface can be configured by the following procedure.
Setting the S-Bus address
- Navigate to the "Tariff 1 total" (the blue bar must be right below "T1total"; it can be moved with the "arrow down")
- Press the button with the "arrow right" (>) during 3 seconds
- Change the address to the value desired
the "arrow down" increments the address by 10
the "arrow right" increments the address by 1
- Once the correct address is displayed/set, wait for until the display turns back to the default display (after around 10 to 15 seconds)
What are the replacement possibilities for the CXE312 and CXE322? (FAQ #101462)
The multifunctional pre-selection counters CXE312 and CXE322 was phased-out starting by the end of August 2010.
Instead of the counters CXE312 and CXE322 the multifunctional pre-selection counters CXQ312 and CXQ322 can be used. These counters have the same functions as the CXE and even some additional ones like:
- 60 kHz counting instead of 10 kHz
- LED Look and multicolour
- Extended counting modes
- Factors and dividers
- Moving average
The dimensions of the CXE and the CXQ are identical, except of the length of the CXQ which is 5mm longer. Compared to the CXE, the CXQ has a more comfortable user interface because a button is available for each decade (and not only 4 cursor buttons as on the CXE).

Which energy meter of the ALE3 line do have pushbuttons? (FAQ #101387)
Versions ALE3D5F11KC3A00, ALE3D5F10KA2A00 and ALE3D5F10KA3A00 have push buttons. The ALE3D5F10KBXXXX doesn't have them.

CXG 201: Why is the screen flashing? (FAQ #101160)
There can be 2 reasons: either the power supply tension is too low (< 10 Volts) or the dislay is defect!
Why can't I start the software "CXControl"? (FAQ #101150)
If the software CXControl (used for configuring the multifunctional preset counter type CXF) is installed on a PC which is equipped with a INTEL or AMD CPU supporting the "NX-Feature", the launch of CXControl can lead to a blue screen.
After installing the software CXControl on a PC with actual INTEL oder AMD-CPU, which support the NX-Feature, it can happen that after starting the CXControl a blue screen with code 0x0000000FC(0xA91D69E8, 0x284AD163, 0xA1D6970, 0x00000001) appears.
This happens with CXControl version V 184.108.40.206 or higher
That fault occurs only with Windows XP SP2 and in association with CPU's which support the NX-feature. The NX feature (NX bit), which stands for No eXecute, is a technology used in CPUs to segregate areas of memory for use by either storage of processor instructions (or code) or for storage of data for security reasons.
In order to avoid this problem the NX feature can be disabled on the PC.
- Change to the root where windows is installed (usually C:\) and click with the right mouse-button on the file "boot.ini" and choose "open".
- Follow the content of the file boot.ini:

- Change expression /NoExecute=OptIn to /NoExecute=AlwaysOff
- Save the file boot.ini
- Reboot your PC
- Start CXControl - now the tool should be launched without problems.
CXD(counter/tachometer) operating instructions are not up to date! (FAQ #100921)
There were some firmware modifications made for the counter/tachometer CXD. Since the operating instruction (delivered together with the product) were not updated, some of the sequences are different and the signification of the inputs are not clear.
Cou 1 = Add (adding impulses to preset value and reset to "0")
Cou 2 = Sub (subtracting pulses from preset value down and reset to preset value)
Cou 3 = AddAr (adding impulses to preset value and automatic reset to "0", fleeting-On contact by reaching the preset)
Cou 4 = SubAr (subtracting pulses from preset value down and automatic reset to preset value, leeting-On contact by reaching value "0")
In E1 = Mod 0 (INP A=count input, INP B= count direction input)
In E2 = Mod 1 (INP A=count input adding, INP B= count input subtracting)
In E3 = Mod 2 (INP A=count input 0°, INP B= count input 90°)
In E4 = Mod 5 (same as E3 but with pulse doubling. Each pulse edge of INPA will be counted)
Time1 = add (permanent signal when count value >=preset value or timed signal when count value = preset value. reset to 0.)
Time2 = sub (Permanent signal when count value <=zero or timed signal when count value = 0. Reset to preset value.)
Time3 = addAr (Timed signal when count value = preset value and automatic reset to 0. Reset to 0.)
Time4 = subAr (Timed signal when count value = 0 and automatic reset to preset value. Reset to preset value.)
In E1 = Mod 0 (Inp "A" counting, Inp "B" count-direction)
In E2 = Mod 1 (Inp "A" adding, Inp "B" subtracting)
In E3 = Mod 2 (phase-discriminator for incremental shaft encoder, Inp "A" 0°, Inp "B" 90° shifted)
In E4 = Mod 5 (similar Mode 2/E3 but with pulse doubling by counting each flank up and down)
The product CXD will reach its end of life by the end of June 2008. Therefore it is not recommended using this product for new applications. The replacement product is CXQ 312.
