Overview HMI and scada systems
The aim of this page is to give an overview about the possibilities for a user dialogue around our PLC's, for the details there are links to the relevant product pages.

Before we introduced more comfortable tools like the HeaVAC dialogue or the HMI-Editor, this was the only solution to use the non-intelligent terminals together with the PLC's. Nowadays we don't recommend to create new projects with that philosophy, since the creation of a dialogue is very time consuming and excellent programming skills are required. The only advantage is the full flexibility.
Standard instructions in all PLC's
PG5, non-intelligent terminals PCD7.D16x, PCD7.D170, PCD7.D202, PCD7.D23x, PCD7.D250
Possible with Step7, but as the price difference is very small, usually an intelligent terminal is the more attractive solution, non-intelligent terminals PCD7.D16x, PCD7.D170, PCD7.D202, PCD7.D23x, PCD7.D250
Time consuming, profound programming skills required, the code for the dialogue creates a significant CPU load

Part of the HeaVAC library with predefined elements. Not recommended for new applications, replaced by the HMI-Editor and its HeaVAC Objects. The relevant FBoxes are still contained in the library, so it is possible to modify or extend existing applications
HeaVAC Library as mentioned above, non-intelligent terminals PCD7.D16x, PCD7.D170, PCD7.D202
Not available
The HeaVAC library is required, flexible but not comfortable

The HMI-Editor is an add-on tool for PG5 and is distributed together with all PG5 packages. It allows to create dialogues for our non-intelligent terminals. The main advantage is the integration in PG5 (for instance resource handling) and the fact that the whole code and texts for the dialogue are stored in the PLC, which means it can be maintaned like another part of the PLC application, via Ethernet, Modem....
HMI-Editor as mentioned above, non-intelligent terminals PCD7.D16x, PCD7.D170, PCD7.D202, PCD7.D23x, PCD7.D250, PCD7.D79x
Not available
The code created by the HMI-Editor creates a CPU charge, that is much bigger than a solution with an intelligent terminal or a PC-based scada system. The structure of the dialogue is given, the programmer is less flexible than with the other solutions

PC based software tools are used to configure the user dialogue. The tools are very easy to use and the philosophy of the dialogue can be adapted to the user or the application. Touchscreen terminals allow to create easy to use dialogues and are appreciated by the programmers and users. Terminals with different numbers of function keys are available as well
Windows based software tool with user interface, complete range of terminals, manuals and online-help files in five languages
Terminals PCD7.D7xx, software PCD8.D81W
Terminals PCD7.D7xx, software PCD8.D81W
When a lot of trend or history functions are required, a PC-based solution is more appropriate

These tools allow to create complex but still userfriendly applications. Whenever a lot of datalogging and trending has to be done, a PC-based system is the best choice. Due to the versatility and complexity of the tools, some days of training are required before the first project. Quite a few scada system manufacturers have got an S-Bus driver available. Any scada system containing an OPC client can be used together with our OPC server
Saia®Visi.Plus is a powerful and flexible tool, that is well integrated in the PCD Classic world
Saia®Visi.Plus as mentioned above
We don't have an own product, the standard products of the Siemens world can be used
Saia®Visi.Plus is for Windows NT4, Win2k and XP only

The SBC-S-Web concept allows to use a standard web browser as a tool for commissioning, service and visualization. The webserver firmware feature is integrated in our recently developped products at no extra cost. It can be accessed using serial links (Serial-S-Bus), Profibus (Profi-S-Bus) or Ethernet TCP/IP Networks (Ether-S-Bus) and allows to display predefined and user-defined web pages.
Web.Builder software to convert de webpages, Webconnect software to do the conversions from the PCD format to a browser conform format, file handling by firmware
Web.Builder Classic software, PCD2.M170, PCD3.Mxxxx, PCD4.M170, PCD2.M480, PCS1.Cxxx
Web.Builder xx7 software, PCD2.M157, PCD2.M177, PCD2.M487
Only for simple applications due to memory and speed limitations
