The latest hardware version of the PCD7.D16x and PCD7.D17x (introduced into production beginning of 2010) uses a new chip and firmware which is faster than the previous one.

Symptom
The latest hardware of the PCD7.D16x and PCD7.D17x (introduced into production beginning of 2010) uses a new chip and firmware 002 which is faster than the previous one. This concerns the key pressed "fast sending mode": with firmware 002 the characters are sent faster than with FW 001.
Note that this only concernes programs written in IL which are not prepared to receive the characters quickly (or more than one per cycle) With the HMI Editor no problem will arise (because the HMI Editor copes with the faster reception of the characters).

Reason
With the new chip, the auto-repeat of the keys is aroound 5 times faster with firmware 002 than in former PCD7.D16x and PCD7.D17x with Firmware 001.
This may results into wrong behaviour of the key functionality if the display is programmed in IL, and the buffer is not read sufficiently fast.
 
Solution
There's a new firmware 021 which will be introduced in the first half year of 2011 into production.
In case you need an updated display earlyer than this, please contact your local sales office.

The settings for Clock period High and Clock period low must be 2 / 150 same settings as for the PCD2.M480.

When placing an FBox "PCD7.D120" it is not possible to build the project anymore with PG5 1.4.300 due to a syntax error.

Symptom
When placing an FBox "PCD7.D120" it is not possible to build the project anymore. On build the error message "Error 31: C:\Program Files\SAIA-Burgess\PG5 1_4\Libs\Std\sfupdis5.srx: Line 323: Syntax error" is shown and the build fails.

Reason
The error message is shown because of an error on the SFup base library which is distributed with PG5 1.4.300.

Solution
To fix the error please install the library S-Fup Base Library version 2.6.100 or higher (installer file "S-Fup Base Library_V2_6_100_ml.exe").
This FBox library can be obtained from the support site www.sbc-support.ch (Section "Software"-->"PG5"-->"PG5 1.4"-->"FBox libraries").

As replacement for the small display PCD7.D120 e.g. an analog signal display CXG291M4N could be used.

Introduction
Due to a low demand, the delivery of PCD7.D120 displays will be discontinued in the year 2008 (last order: 31.09.2008). The repair service for the PCD7.D120 will be discontinued end of 2013.
In case an appilication requires a small numeric display, .e.g. a CXG291M4N could be applied.
 

Comparison between the PCD7.D120 and the CXG291M4N

• The main difference between the PCD7.D120 and the CXG291M4N is that the CXG291M4N is connected to a PCD by an analogue output (and not by digital outputs as the D120).
  The input signal for the CXG291M4N can be configured to be 0/2..10 VDC or 0/4..20 mA.
• There are no specific FBoxes necessary for controlling the CXG291M4N.
• The mechanical dimensions of the two displays are identical.
• The PCD7.D120 features 6 digits while the CXG291M4N features 5 digits.
