Two versions: PCD3.T665 and PCD3.T666
The Smart RIOs are available in two versions. These differ in terms of their communication properties
and the available program memory.
Network topology
Giessen Hospital:
the cabling costs could be
vastly reduced through the
decentralisation of the inputs/
outputs with the PCD3.T666
Smart RIOs and the PCD7.L121
S-Bus I/Os.
Renovation of Giessen Hospital, Germany
During the renovation of a four storey building wing,
Saia® PDC systems were used to manage the heat-
ing, ambient indoor climate conditions and ventila-
tion. One smart-RIO PCD3.T666 was installed for each
floor. Additional PCD7.L121 S-Bus I/O modules are
connected via the integrated RS485 interface.
The following videos show the configuration
of the S-RIOs in the PG5 programming tool:

Both S-RIO types can be used with or without an ap-
plication program. No application program is required
if the S-RIOs are used as simple decentralized I/Os. In
such a case, it suffices for the I/O mapping for the data
exchange to simply be configured in the RIO network
configurator.
