In order to synchronize all PCD clocks on a network (Serial S-Bus, Profi-S-Bus or Ether-S-Bus) the FBox "Broadcast Clock" from the standard family "Communication" may be used. Depending on the range where the Broadcast message shall take effect the parameter "IP Node/Profi-S-Bus Address" has to be set correctly.
In firmware version 0A1 a new functionality has been introduced that allows to use the port 0 (D sub 9 poles) a PCS1 as free port (eg. Serial-S-Bus, MC etc.). This allows the user configuring the PCS1 e.g. as gateway, using port 0 as gateway slave port.
The Ether-S-Bus plugin allows filtering the captured telegrams based on one or several properties of the telegram such as the command code contained in the telegram and/or the value of a transmitted media etc.
It is possible to convert all the variable from a S-Bus driver to Ether S-Bus driver if an existing project has to be used on another terminal type (e.g. PCD7.D786 convert to PCD7.D786ET)!
As a PCD system does feature various "Internet communication features" (Web Server, Ether-S-Bus, SMTP etc.), it suggests itself to connect it to the Internet using e.g. an (A)DSL router. This FAQ is aimed to explain some key-points to be considered for accessing a PCD over the Internet.
The S-Bus address of an ALE3 with Serial-S-Bus interface can be configured by the following procedure.
For analyzing Ether-S-Bus communication or Ethernet communication in general, we recommend using the free software Wireshark.
Analysing Serial-S-Bus communication can be done in several ways, depending on the focus of analysis (what shall be analysed; the telegrams on the wire, the requests sent by a PC software or the signal levels of e.g. Rx/Tx).
