The new WebServer 2 implemented in the PCD3 and PCD2.M5xxx supports caching and therefore the loading of the Java Applet can be avoided when reloading web pages. From firmware version 1.10.16 on you can profit of the caching possibility of the Java Virtual Machine.
Use caution when downloading FW to a PCD3.Mxxxx controller because it is possible downloading a wrong FW (e.g. the one for the PCD2.M480). Once the wrong FW is downloaded follow this procedure for downloading the correct FW:
Up to firmware version 1.14.23 the maximal amount of COBs (Cyclic Organization Blocks) has been 16. In firmware 1.14.23 the amoung of COBs has been increased to 32. Thus on PCD2.M5 and PCD3 and newer systems up to 32 COBs can be used (COB to 31).
In case the Smart Ethernet RIO manager is a PCD2.M5 or a PCD3 (with firmware 1.16.42) the data exchange between the RIO station and the manager is not running after a program restore has been executed on the manager.
Since BACnet objects vary heavily in the amount of properties and features it is not possible to define a number of supported BACnet objects per CPU. However, this FAQ contains a rule of thumb for the amount of BACnet objects that can be defined on a PCD3 or a PCD2.M5xx0.
In July 2010 the firmware 1.14.23 has been introduced into production for the PCD2.M5xx0 and the PCD3.Mxxx0. This FAQ lists the main differences between versions 1.10.51 and 1.14.23.
In the system catalogue there is a schematic of a PCD connected to a BACnet/IP network which could lead to a missinterpretation. Although BACnet is supported by a PCD3 or a PCD2.M5xx0 and LON on IP will be suppored in future, it won't be possible to run both stacks on the same PCD at the same time.
