Why does the MAC address shown on the sticker not have 12 digits?

FAQ #100946

Because of a wrong formatting of the MAC addresses printed on the stickers delivered together with PCD3 systems (with Ethernet option), leading zeros have sometimes been omitted.

Symptom
The MAC address shown on the small sticker which is delivered together with a PCD3 with Ethernet option is missing a "0" (see picture below).
image
The MAC address of this PCD3 is correct, the formatting does only concern the small sticker delivered together with the PCD3. The correct MAC address of this sticker is:
00:50:C2:8D:04:8E

Reason
The missing zero has not been printed due to a formatting error.

Remark
Saia-Burgess Controls AG has recognized this problem in May 2008 and since then the sticker do no longer miss preceding zeros in the MAC addresses.
