How to open a logfile on the filesystem directly from excel?

How to open a file from excel:
- Open Excel, click on File/Open
- Choose FTP locations
- Add/Modify FTP locations
- Name of the FTP site: IP address of the station to access
- Logon as user: root; Password: rootpasswd
- Add the connection will be stored, otherwise the password has to be entered on each connection
- Open the connection
- Choose "All Files" under "files of type" that the csv's are visible
- Browse to the file you like to open
- Open the file. It will be imported to excel directly

Important remarks and restrictions:
- If the Excel FTP connection is not closed regulary, because excel crashes per example, the FTP connection is not closed properly. Therefore it is necessary to set a timeout for FTP connections in the FTPConfig-File
- Writing a file is not possible, just reading
