Are the xx7 series controllers really fully compatible?

Full compatibility is not available. Xx7 series controllers are Step®7 programmable. Restrictions mainly occur when special, local modules from the Simatic communications processor and function module environments are mandatory. Due to the difference in hardware construction, they cannot be integrated into an xx7 system. In this area, SBC offers economical alternative solutions that entail little engineering expenditure. In addition, the instruction sets and module addressing of xx7 controllers corresponds approximately to those of the CPU412/414 from Siemens.
